+ Stockholm Challenge 

The Stockholm Challenge Framework puts the most relevant and crucial aspects of nominated projects to the test. The award categories cover the most significant areas of social and economic life, which were selected to match the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. The most innovative and viable projects will be nominated for the Stockholm Challenge Award and selected by a jury comprising some of the foremost global IT-entrepreneurs.

2010
Singapore government agencies scored distinction at the Stockholm Challenge Award 2010. The Central Provident Fund Board's "Service Transformation Journey" bagged the Public Administration category. 14 other Singapore government agency initiatives were also honoured as finalists.

+ CAPAM International Innovations Awards

The Commonwealth Association of Public Administration & Management (CAPAM) International Innovations Awards celebrates the spirit of innovation in the public service by recognizing those who have made significant contributions to improving governance and services in the public sector. The submissions are judged by an international panel of esteemed public service professionals typically representing at least 10 different Commonwealth countries.

2010
Ministry of Education's School Cockpit was among the finalists for Innovative Use of Technology in the Public Service category.

2008
Two ICT projects from Singapore were listed as finalists in this award -

2006
The Central Provident Fund Board (CPFB) participated in the CAPAM International Innovations Awards 2006 and my cpf was awarded a "Certificate of Achievement" for its significant accomplishment. The theme for the biennial awards this year was "Innovations in Citizen Engagement and Service Delivery".

+ UN Public Service Awards

The UN Public Service Awards is the most prestigious international recognition of excellence in public service. It rewards the creative achievements and contributions of public service institutions that lead to a more effective and responsive public administration in countries worldwide.

2006
The Integrated Work Permit Online Services (WPOL) developed by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) was awarded the United Nations Public Service Award in the category of "Improving transparency, accountability and responsiveness in the Public Service". MOM is one of only 3 government organizations worldwide and the only one in the Asia-Pacific region that has been given this recognition by the UN in 2006.

+ World Economic Forum Global Information Technology Report

The World Economic Forum Global Information Technology Report ranks 138 economies and examined their preparedness to leverage information and communication technologies (ICT) for increased competitiveness and development. A Networked Readiness Index is used to measure an economy's "networked-readiness" across three equally-weighted component sub-indices – Environment, Readiness and Usage. It is regarded as the world's most comprehensive and authoritative international assessment of the impact of ICT on the development process and the competitiveness of nations.

2011, 2010 , 2009 and 2008
Singapore, ranked fifth in 2008, fourth in 2009 and second in 2010. Singapore was again ranked overall second, after Sweden, in the Global Information Technology Report 2010-2011, published by the World Economic Forum in cooperation with INSEAD.

Singapore was noted for its superior capacity to leverage ICT as an enabler of sustainable, long-term economic growth, which is built on a long-standing focus placed by governments and private sectors alike on education, innovation and ICT access and diffusion. Download PDF report here.

+ Waseda University World e-Government Ranking

The Waseda University Institute of e-Government has been monitoring the development of e-Government worldwide since 2004. In 2011, it assessed e-government development of 50 economies on competitiveness based on seven indicators covering network preparedness, management optimization, national portal, CIO in government, required interface-functioning application, e-government promotion and e-participation.

2009 to 2011
Singapore has topped the 2011 Waseda University World e-Government Ranking for three consecutive years. Singapore was the first Asian country to top the Waseda University World e-Government Ranking in 2009. The study noted trends such as the increased use of Government 2.0, the special attention governments gave to Green ICT issues, and an increasing interest in Cloud computing and virtualisation. + United Nations e-Government Survey

The United Nations e-Government Survey assesses its 192 member states on the relative ability of their governments in harnessing infocomm technologies (ICT) to deliver online services and engage its citizens in public policies. The countries are ranked under 2 indices: e-Government Development Index and e-Participation Index.

2010
Singapore was ranked 11th in the e-Government Development Index and 9th in the e-Participation Index of 2010. Download PDF report here. Brown University e-Government Study

A study by researchers at Brown University has placed Singapore in the second position, ahead of the United States and Taiwan in the 2007 study. Singapore scored highly among a study of 198 countries and analysis of over 1,500 websites and was noted for having well-organised government websites with useful links and advanced search engines. The ranking for Singapore was a notch up from 2006. According to Brown University, Singapore scored high marks for online services, publications, databases, privacy policies and security policies. 73% of the Singapore government sites which the University analysed have online services and all sites assessed had publications, databases, privacy policies and security policies.

The report also gave special mention to the www.gov.sg portal, and noted that the site was well-organised and customised to users' needs. Useful links, advanced site search engine, RSS news feed and customer ratings were features highlighted that gave Singapore an edge over others for being citizen-centric in online service delivery.

Accenture e-Government Study and Ranking

The Singapore government was ranked 1st in an Accenture 2007 study on "Leadership in Customer Service". In this study, Singapore nudges Canada out of the number one position. It noted that Singapore edged in engaging its citizens and developing service models that are citizen-centric. Singapore was also substantially ahead of the other 22 countries Accenture ranked including USA and Denmark, in terms of proactive communication and education to its citizens.

Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) e-Readiness Ranking

The EIU e-Readiness Ranking measures the quality of a country's information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and the ability of its consumers, businesses and governments to use ICT to their benefit. Singapore was ranked seventh in the EIU e-Readiness Ranking 2009. Denmark, Sweden, Nethelands, Norway, the United States and Australia topped the list in the ranking. Download the PDF report here.

Health Promotion Board's SHAPE and IDEAS Strike Gold 2006

The Health Promotion Board's (HPB) SHAPE and IDEAS took top honours in the healthcare sector in the Asia Pacific Information and Communication Technology Awards (APICTA). SHAPE and IDEAS is an integrated patient-centric clinical management system which manages about one million medical, vision and dental screening records and captures 300,000 immunization records annually for the school medical and dental service. It has radically improved clinical care, customer service and front desk services, resulting in a 50% decrease in patient registration time. The system has also reduced staff's administrative burden, translating to cost-savings of 6,500 man-days per year from manual preparation of treatment charts, compilation of work returns and appointment scheduling.

The system also clinched a Merit Award at the National Infocomm Awards 2006 for the most innovative use of infocomm in the public sector.

Supreme Court Portal Wins Top Spot in the Justice Served Top 10 Court Websites Award 2006

The Supreme Court portal won the top spot in the Justice Served Top 10 Court Websites Awards 2006. The annual website award was made by a US-based alliance of court management and justice experts. The two main criteria for the award are court functionality and web functionality. In awarding the top position to Supreme Court, the organisers had this to say about the website: "This website deserves the highest honour for the number and sophistication of online court services. It has online e-filing, access to judgements, Law-Net litigation support, booking of the high tech courtroom and booking of the "Mobile Info-Tech Trolley". This is a great example of migrating court services to the web."

URA Digital 3D Urban Model System clinches ESIG Award 2011

URA Digital 3D Urban Model System has won the prestigious 2011 Exemplary Systems in Government (ESIG) Award in the Enterprise Systems Category from Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA).

URISA is an international, non-profit Geographic Information Systems (GIS) association that promotes effective and ethical use of spatial information to improve quality of life in urban and regional environments.

The ESIG Review Committee commended, “This solution was deemed exemplary because this system was built not only to innovatively serve the needs of the jurisdiction and the community, but to embrace a cutting edge technology. The combination of 3D technology with 2D GIS technology has provided URA staff and their community with the tools to visualize the impact of urban development. Projects like these move the GIS and planning industries forward.”
