Introduction:

The Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth's (MCCY) Charity Portal is the first online portal in the world that allows organisations to register for their Charity status or Institution of a Public Character (IPC) status online, and for fund raisers to apply electronically for a fund-raising permit.

Charities are organisations set up exclusively for charitable objectives, such as the relief of poverty or the advancement of education, religion, health and other purposes beneficial to the community. An IPC is a non-profit or not-for-profit organisation whose activities are beneficial to the community in Singapore as a whole. Only those organisations which are conferred the approved IPC status are authorised to issue tax deduction receipts for tax-deductible donations received (i.e. donors are given tax-deduction for donations made to these organisations).

Programme Details:

The Charity Portal allows for faster processing of these applications and also helps to improve transparency within the charity sector with the centralisation of charity-related information in a single database. This enhances information sharing amongst the Commissioner of Charities and the five Sector Administrators - Ministry of Social and Family Development, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, People's Association and Singapore Sports Council.
