About the programme

Appointed in Jan 2009 as the key online platform for e-engagement on Government policies and issues, REACH aggregates the views and concerns of citizens on national policies and issues, using a wide variety of traditional and online consultation channels. These include e-Consultation and e-Participation via blogs, online discussion forums, e-townhall web chats, and new media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.

REACH's online engagement efforts and platforms have enabled a greater reach to netizens, and encouraged active and constructive online Government-to-Citizen (G2C) and Citizen-to-Citizen (C2C) discussions and discourse.

From the formation of the Feedback Unit in 1985 to our metamorphosis into REACH in 2006, we have seen steady improvement in the quality and quantity of paparticipation across our various feedback channels. The number of feedback inputs has also increased by almost 300%.

Moving forward, the Singapore Government plans to adopt these new social media platforms more widely to develop stronger community (citizen-to-citizen) bonding via special interests online communities.
